Baby Shower

Thanks so much to everyone for coming out to the Baby shower and a special thanks to My Mom and Dad and Jackie for hosting it and working so hard on it!!! I know this has been a busy month for all of you! We had such a great time!

Here's a shot of how cool the car seat looks on the stroller frame... we love it!!! Thanks so much Jeff, Scott & Ashley!

Thanks to Grandma Sue and Steve!!!!!

Yay! We just picked up our Mutsy stroller that John's Mom and her husband bought us!!!! Thank you so much, it is soooo incredible... would we be weird if we walk it around the neighborhood before she's born?

Big Brother

And here's Guinness who is already so sick of everyone making such a big deal of Poops Vertin

New Furniture

Alright, we're starting to gain some momentum! We picked up this bookshelf (that needs some serious organization... You also get to see the great chair John picked up in this shot. The lamp is from the living room... we love how it looked in here!

Don't worry about the $20 mid century modern dresser that you see before you! John is going to add a changing station to the top for all of Ellie's diapers, yippee! This also shows the color we are starting to add to our rug.

Ellie's Closet

This child won't be here for another 96 days, but, Grandma has ensured that her closet is overrun with princess pink!

Nursery...

Here's what John did to the nursery while I was in New Jersey for the East Coast Baby Shower! He got carpet tiles to start the rug, picked up some Tiki stuff and some great tropical plants and the incredible chair on the left of the picture! I think we're gonna make that in to a rocking chair... it is so cute! John is going to be an incredible Dad!

The Mutsy 4 Rider!!

1.3.08

Here's some nursery inspiration we're loving right now and a few things we definitely want in ours...

I like the feel and color of this room. The crib is also really similar to ours.

This one has a great collection of ugly dolls.

I love the excitement of this room ... might be better as a playroom, but, we'll definitely incorporate some chalkboard paint...

Here's the crib we bought, looks great when you actually put a
mattress in it.

The first 3 months

I thought I would catch everyone up to where we're at now. It's weird because it feels so easy right now to be pregnant. The only thing that i'm feeling is a pinched nerve that won't go away, but, this is easier than I thought it would be.

I took the test and then gave john a pogues onesie to surprise him with the news December 16th. Then we spent Christmas eve with John's family and gave Sue a pacifier in a little box which she then proceeded to think it was John trying to get her to quit smoking... that was awesome! They were all very excited and have already bought some shoes for the munchkin. We then moved on down to south OC to spend time with everyone in my fam and made the parents open gifts of grandma and grandpa onesies and I believe there was a 20 minute crying session. That was a great night that I will always remember... I'll post the pics later.

I had some fun hiding the fact that I wasn't drinking alcohol and only water in the dark colored wine glasses i was holding before I told everyone. There's a technique really because you drink water differently so you have to be careful to slowly enjoy the water and really let those grapes fill your mouth. That would have been a dead give away if I didn't have some kind of cocktail in my hand.

Then John got a dutch oven for christmas and just as my serious food aversions kicked in he decided an all day cooked brisket would be really tasty and I did my best to suffer somewhat quietly with the stink of it. He liked to make meals like that a lot those first few months ( I wonder if it was on purpose) Meat in general was not for me for a good 12 weeks. Like I said before I lived off cereal (lucky charms and capn crunch of course) for weeks. Saltines were definitely a staple and for the first time in my life I wanted water all the time. Thank God those days are over. I had chicken at lunch for the first time in 3 months and I didn't gag while eating it...I'm on my way.

I definitely have cravings but there not weird. Like for a week straight i want ice cream for dessert and then I'm over it. I actually hate pickles right now and strong smells still turn me away on occasion. And luckily I'm actually not craving wine at all...but here's to hoping that craving comes back August 25th!!! (I'll pump)

29.2.08

I usually don't like stuffed animals...which poses a problem since kids love em. This thing is awesome though, I might attempt to make something like it one night when i'm laying on the couch watching tv and relaxing.... oh yeah.. that's every night these days. Also a fan of ugly dolls and hoping that they'll be the only stuffed animals in the baby's room...

Crib!

We have made our first major purchase and assembled it. We wanted to find a modern crib that was inexpensive and not a million dollars to ship: The Olivia Crib from Baby Mod fulfilled our needs and then some...

13 weeks

14 and one half weeks today. I've entered the 2nd trimester and can actually imagine eating regular meals now. I spent many nights eating cereal for dinner, which was tasty but probably not the most fulfilling.
